I’m Lynn Elliot, co-founder of Elliot’s List.

I have been involved in business around Britain for many years, this has required me to travel extensively and overnight stays have been a necessary part of my life.

When away from home I always want to find a place to stay that will lift my evening from just bearable to truly enjoyable. Not being a fan of large impersonal hotels I usually search for a good Pub that offers a warm atmosphere, a good pint, a decent meal (especially if I’m entertaining clients) and a comfortable room for the night. Consequently, I have a large collection of Pub Guides on my shelves and these soon become out of date and need replacing at quite a considerable cost.

I searched the Internet to find an alternative but, much to my disappointment, I could not find anything “on line” that suited my requirements. I wanted to find a Pub Guide that, most importantly, would give me not only an accurate impression of what a venue was going to be like, but also was free, easy to use and was not cluttered by advertising and pop ups for unrelated products and services.

My frustration led me to believe that the time was ripe for an On-Line Pub Guide that catered not only to business travelers such as my self but also to tourists and visitors seeking the Best Quality Pub information. In 2009 I teamed up with my co-founder Paul Day, who has over 20 years experience in buying and selling Pubs throughout Britain, and we set about creating Elliot’s List.

There are, of course, many different types of Pub, be they, village locals, former coaching inns, old world country pubs or modern gastro-pubs, we have included all variations in Elliot’s List, one of our main provisos being that whatever the pub does, it does it exceptionally well.

Unlike hotel sites, we don’t award stars and we present the Pubs alphabetically in order to avoid favouritism on our part. If you feel that we have missed a hidden gem, please bring it to our attention by dropping us an email with the details, you can do this on our Contact Us page.
