The Old Crown, Hesket Newmarket.
Nestling in the hills at the foot of the fells, between Penrith and Wigton is the idyllically, picturesque village of Hesket Newmarket. On its "main street" is situated The Old Crown pub. No ordinary pub this - it is owned by inhabitants of the village and is a watering-hole of the present Prince of Wales. This is a cosy, warm, friendly place where locals and visitors alike can chat over a pint of beer which has been brewed by the brewery in the yard "out back". Local dishes are often on offer, prepared and cooked by some of the pub owners. Further information- webpages |

Oddfellows Arms, Caldbeck. Standing, white clad, squarely in the centre of the village, overlooking the beck which gives the village its name is the Oddfellows Arms. A solid, impressive building which has withstood the fellside weather since its days as a coaching inn in the 17th century. It has been internally altered of late, but with great care and consideration. The bars and dining room still have their wonderful character, the walls decorated with pictures and ephemera from earlier days. The pub has a well deserved reputation for serving hearty meals from its varied all day menu accompanied by a wide range of locally brewed beers. Further information, pub page |
