The Finest Pubs in the Huddersfield Area

THE ROSE & CROWN, SLAITHWAITE.

The Cop Hill pub that had been such a favourite venue for many years had become a bit tired and tatty of late.    Now that's all changed!

Steve Kerr and his family who took over the reins a couple of years ago have already breathed new life back in to the place.
There has already been a full refurbishment of the bars and restaurant, with the inclusion of a new kitchen.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the view, on a good clear day it is still amazing.

THE SANDS HOUSE INN, CROSLAND MOOR

In the past when Blackmoorfoot Road was the Turnpike through Marsden to Manchester the Sands House served as a local pub for the men that hewed the stone in the nearby quarries, stone that was used to build the local mills and the grand homes of those who owned them. Today it stands as an example to the large Pub Enterprises of how a small local can be “modernised” without turning it into a characterless, cavernous drinking hall.

The Sands House Inn is an all inclusive destination, warm, friendly and pleased to be of service to its visitors.

THE THREE ACRES, ROYDHOUSE, SHELLEY.

It really is hard to remember that the Three Acres started life as a tiny, one passage and a serving hatch, local pub, The Plough, frequented by  colliers and farm workers after hard days toiling down the mines and in the fields. Its transformation started in the mid 60's and in 1968 Derek Truelove took over the pub and started it on the road to what it is today, one of the finest dining pubs in the British Isles. Since the earliest days the emphasis has always been on quality of product and first rate presentation, backed up by friendly, efficient service, this continues to this day.
The present day management team, still including a couple of Trueloves, oversees a pub with a wide variety of unsurpassed fine dining experiences, a wonderful cellar and twenty comfortable letting bedrooms in some of the adjacent cottages.

THE WOODMAN INN, THUNDERBRIDGE, KIRKBURTON.

Down Dam Hill, past Shuttering Row, alongside the beck and the old corn mill race to the bridge, no sign of thunder, just the tranquil hamlet of handsome houses and cottages. Nestling in this cleft between the surrounding woodland stands The Woodman Inn, a focus for the surrounding villages for the past 2 hundred years.

This is a peaceful place, just to sit outside and enjoy a drink of your choice surrounded by the sounds of the passing stream, the birds in the stands of trees and perhaps enjoy one of the superb bar snacks on offer.

If you require finer fare the Woodman today has an excellent restaurant with a full a la carte menu. The wonderfully prepared food is complimented by a comprehensively stocked wine cellar.

Should you wish to extend your stay in this sybaritic haven some of the adjoining weavers cottages have been converted into guest accommodation but demand is high and early booking is advised.
