Cop Hill
Slaithwaite

The Rose and Crown stands besides one of the old packhorse routes which eventually wends its way down into Marsden and the pub has been there since those days of four-legged transport.
The nearest town is Slaithwaite, (which is pronounced "Slouwit") and it is from there that you start your ascent to Cop Hill. The easiest way is to keep the Silent Woman on your right, straight ahead through the railway viaduct, then climb. It seems to go on for a while but the end of your journey is worth the effort.
On a warm day, sitting at the out-door tables with a beer is special. Just look east, after Emley Moor the next highest point is the Ural Mountains in Russia.

The Rose & Crown, being a Freehouse, stocks a wide variety of beautifully kept beers from Timothy Taylors, Goose Eye, Black Sheep, Copper Dragon, John Smiths, Worthingtons along with guest ales. Guiness,Carling and San Miguel are also on draught along with a large range of bottled beers.
A comprehensive wine list is on hand and tea and coffee are available at all times.
If you like to combine work and pleasure the Rose & Crown has a free WiFi connection and will even lend you a laptop to go on-line. What could be better, keep an eye on the job and a quiet drink and lunch at the same time.

The 40 cover restaurant at the Rose & Crown is bright and well lit with wonderful views across the valley. This has all been recently refurbished and a new kitchen has been added since the new licencee arrived.
There is a varied and interesting "all day" menu of main meals to suit all appetites along with a selection of lighter bites and sandwiches. This is supplemented by a selection of daily special dishes which are listed on the chalk board. All the food on offer is prepared to order.
The Rose & Crown also has an 80 cover function room with its own bar available for corporate events and special celebrations.
